Vivitek’s digital signage solution integrated through Colombian government agency supporting fundamental and applied research
Every client is important, and each is unique. That is especially true when the end-user is the Colombian government and its Department of Science, Technology and Innovation. Known as Colciencias, this department promotes the advancement of knowledge generation through research and development. When the Colombian government set out to find the latest in digital signage technology, it enlisted the help of Mitcom, a company specializing in design and implementation of digital signage solutions for corporate customers.
The most important objective of the digital signage project was to improve the image, quality and experience to showcase the projects for the ministry of Colciencias,
said Jose Vasquez, director for Mitcom.
With the NovoDS from Vivitek, users can select up to 36 signage templates and one customizable template. Designed with a user-friendly interface, the NovoDS allows users to generate signage content with text, photos, audio, video and online material, without the need of any programming skills.
Mitcom has been serving the Colombian government since 2011 and understands Colciencias’ serious requirements and guidelines.
Colciencias is dependent upon the presidency and leads the National System of Science, Technology and Innovation (SNCTI) while focusing its efforts on education, research, innovation and culture,
Vasquez explained.
Colciencias fosters the circulation of knowledge for the integral development of the country and the welfare of the Colombian people.
To meet Colciencias’ goals, Mitcom took on a new product line by integrating Vivitek’s solution in the project. Mitcom had previous experience with a variety of vertical markets, including restaurants, airports, cinemas, hotels, schools, and hospitals, but had just recently became a new Vivitek customer.
In the past, we were working with many content solutions, but none like the NovoDS – this software platform conquers all others,
Vasquez said.
Support from Vivitek was always timely from the beginning of the project, when we received our demo unit, to the end, when we received final delivery of our units. Our customer had a very short deadline. Vivitek worked with us to ensure our products arrived on time and we completed a seamless installation.
Vasquez said the biggest challenge during the installation was the video wall, which was his company’s first time integrating the NovoDS to a video wall.
Vivitek worked with us until our problems were solved. We were very impressed with the quality and design, as well as the a ordable price point.

Colciencias couldn’t be happier with the solution. We’ve integrated at least one NovoDS on each of the eight oors of the building and many are being used standalone, while others are working with a video wall.
